The first deadline for people who believe they should have an assessment of eligibility for NHS Continuing Healthcare funding is the end of this month – 30 September. Government funded grants of up to £3,500 (and up to £6,000 in areas where there is no mains gas) are available to homeowners and private tenants receiving certain income-related benefits, to help them keep warm and save money on energy bills. Community groups wanting to bid to run local services or buy their local shop, library or pub will benefit from more than £30 million of new specialist support, Communities Minister Andrew Stunell has announced. |
